The award take its roots from the importance of reading in human life, and reading’s connection with upgrading the intellectual, psychological and expanding one’s wisdom, in addition to strengthening the status of the Arabic language and promotion of it use as a language of creativity, expression and communication.
The objectives of the award
• Encouragement to read and attain Scholarship and to create awareness about their importance.
• To inculcate the habit of reading in the hearts of young and emerging.
• To create awareness regarding importance of book collecting and the effect of them in purifying souls.
• Distribution of the purposeful books among the members of the community in the UAE.
o Participation is open only for the citizens of the United Arab Emirates aged 9 years or above.
o A contestant should provide information in the entry form and hand it over at the ministry centers or its building in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
o Competitors should visit ministry’s public libraries and it’s centers in each of: (Abu Dhabi – Western region - Ajman - Umm Al Quwain - Ras Al Khaimah - Fujairah - Masafi - Dibba Fujairah - Delma) and access to the available books to choose from, depending on the age group.
o The Participant has to read and summarize books mentioned by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in specific number, each category accordingly.
o The competitor after reading each book would summarize it in one page of the reading log of the Competition or by audio recording, where he records complete data.
o The limit of words in summaries by children is 100-150 words, and for the age group of 16 years and above the limit is 300-500 words.
o Reading logs would be delivered at the nearest center of the ministry centers or hand-delivered at the ministry building Abu Dhabi or Dubai not later than 03.15.2015.
o A special committee would sort and read the summaries and compare the names of candidates to win and determine the winners.
o The winners will be honored at a special ceremony and receive certificates.
o Declaration of Winners at the centers level would take place on 5 / April / 2015.
o Declaration of Winners at the state level would take place 18 / April / 2015.
